North Hanover

This section of Hanover borders Norwell and Hingham, and is served by Cedar Elementary, one of two public elementary schools in Hanover, and is proximal to Hanover Middle School on Whiting Street and South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School. North Hanover covers a large swath of land that extends from the Route 3 area near Hingham and Rockland across to Route 3 by Assinippi in Norwell. Hanover’s tree-lined Main Street picks up from Norwell’s High Street and offers an abundance of historical homes perched on nice lots with both character and curb appeal. The median house value in North Hanover is just under $500,000. Neighborhoods, both established and newer developments extend from Main Street, Webster Street, and Whiting Street. Stone Meadow Lane is a popular neighborhood with beautiful homes, and is an access point for many lanes and streets that sprout from it.

Sandwiched between Main Street, Route 123, Hanover Center and Route 53 is an area of Hanover filled with neighborhoods and side streets. Ranging from small capes and ranches to mid-size colonials and larger homes, this area offers both access to shopping and transportation, and a nice neighborhood setting. Dillingham Way, Buttercup Lane, Old Town Way, Woodland Drive, and many other side roads offer a variety of home at different price levels. A small section of Hanover crosses over Route 53, skirting Norwell by the Hanover Mall. This section of Hanover offers a few homes near the Hanover YMCA.

West Hanover

Bordering Rockland to the west, West Hanover offers many lovely and quiet neighborhoods. Close to Whiting and Hingham Street, it offers proximity to Route 3. Cedar Street offers access to several family neighborhoods as well as Hanover High School. West Avenue also leads into smaller roads including Brook Circle, Jefferson Road, and Franklin Road which offer a neighborhood feel.

South Hanover

South Hanover is home to Hanover Center, a quintessential New England town common with white steepled churches, a stately town hall, a refurbished town library, horse stables and antique homes. South Hanover feels a bit more rural with several land reserves including Summer Saint Conservation Land, Fireworks Property, Tindale Bog and Beach and Morrill Allen Phillips Wildlife Sanctuary. With less neighborhoods than North Hanover, South Hanover has main roads like Circuit Street, Cross Street, Center Street and Broadway which offer homes set often of larger pieces of property with nice gardens and yards. South Hanover, with median home values above $500,000, is proximal to Center Elementary, as well as shopping on Route 53. In addition a small section of Hanover crosses Route 53 by Norwell, and offers neighborhoods with lovely, large antique homes with character and charm.
